Green Beans and Tomatoes
A tasty way to get your family to eat their vegetables! We took a basic vegetable and added savory flavors by adding our Petite Diced Tomatoes with Garlic and Olive Oil. A delicious side dish to complete any meal.
1 tablespoon olive oil1 tablespoon butter2 teaspoons garlic, chopped1 (14.5 ounce) can Red Gold® Petite Diced Tomatoes with Garlic & Olive Oil 14.5 oz1 (16 ounce) bag frozen green beans2-3 fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced1/4 teaspoon kosher salt1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- In a medium saute pan or skillet, add olive oil over medium high heat. Add garlic and saute until translucent and fragrant; about 2 to 3 minutes.
- Add the petite diced tomatoes and green beans and stir to combine. Cover and cook for 10 to 15 minutes (or to your desired crispness of the beans).
- Season with salt and pepper. Top with the thinly sliced basil and stir into beans just before serving.
Cook's Tip: to slice basil into thin strips, roll 2-3 basil leaves into a cylinder and cut into strips. This is a cooking term call "chiffonade".
